Like most industries, Retail has seen its fair share of trends come and go. Merchants test different concepts and strategies in order to find new revenue streams and entice customers to shop more. The latest trend with major success is the Pop-Up store concept. The trend is quickly becoming a permanent fixture in Retail with most companies including it in their overall sales and marketing strategies.
For retailers, opening a new location is a big undertaking. The opening of a Pop-Up store costs about 80% less and has far less risk. For consumers, Pop-Up stores offer a unique shopping experience which can’t be had at a traditional brick-and-mortar.
Pop-Up stores come in a variety of sizes and formats. From single merchants to global brands, there’s no single design standard which has to be followed. The Pop-Up store concept negates traditional retail and the Point of Sale is included. Retailers should be able to implement a POS solutoin just as unique as their Pop-Up concept.
[Case Study] Payworks recently worked with Bugaboo, a leading design and mobility company best known for their iconic pushchairs. With the launch of their new luggage line, they decided to open international Pop-Up stores in New York City and London. As their traditional POS would not fit this environment, Payworks helped them introduce a modern iPad based POS with webshop integration.
